New website for Kompetansebroen

- Sharing competence for a better common healthcare system
Project Description
Kompetansebroen needed an updated website with improved user-friendliness and a visual upgrade, as well as maintenance and support for the site.

The solution was a website with content types that are easier to distinguish from each other, highlighting the most used features, and a more organized menu structure. This has made the site easier to navigate, and users now spend less time finding what they are looking for.

Kompetansebroen's goal is to ensure that patients shared between hospitals and municipalities receive the best possible care. To achieve this, sharing competence is vital, and Kompetansebroen.no provides healthcare professionals and students with access to over a thousand quality-assured training videos, digital courses, professional articles, podcast episodes, and events.

Research

To identify the needs, we conducted several interviews with nurses, students, and administrative staff in the healthcare sector. We also analyzed data from Google Analytics to determine user needs and which content was most frequently used.

Ideation

We did a lot of sketching on paper to develop ideas for a new solution and used the 6 Up and 1 Up technique to draw ideas for the front pages. This is also how the idea for an illustration on the front page came about.

We facilitated both digital and physical work meetings to work on core content and the layout of pages for doctors and health communities.

Showing hand drown sketches from the 6 up 1 up workshop.

Solution

To improve usability, we focused on making the most frequently used content easier to find:

Illustration of how the videos were presented before and how they are presented now.
A screenshot of what the menu looked like before and how it looks like now.

Accessibility

Since Kompetansebroen is a public platform, it needed to comply with Norway’s accessibility regulations. We assisted in completing the legally required Tilgjengelighetserklæring, conducted accessibility reviews, and made improvements to meet WCAG requirements.
